Ride in Virtual #PrairiePedal2020
Ride your bicycle in support of Macon County’s natural areas and wildlife! With your health and safety in mind, this year’s event will be held virtually. Meaning, you get to ride when and where you like:
- Pick your mileage: Pick any mileage you’re comfortable with. Ride 1 mile or 100 miles. Whatever suits you. (Or just register to support the cause without actually riding.)
- Pick your route: Even if it’s just taking your family around the block, enjoying a scenic jaunt on the Rock Springs-Fairview Bike Trail, or riding a stationary bike— you decide where to ride!
- Ride when it fits your schedule: Anytime between now and Sunday, October 11, 2020. Pledge to ride a short distance over the course of several days, or go for one long bike ride.
- Snap a picture when you finish: Take a selfie or a picture of the route you rode. Then, post it to the Prairie Pedal Facebook page, share it using #PrairiePedal2020, or email your pictures to KUnruh@MaconCountyConservation.org for a chance to win a prize bundle, including a $100 gift certificate to Spin City Cycles. Photos of the natural areas or wildlife you see along the way are welcome, too. One winner will be selected at random.
These past months, COVID-19 has highlighted the importance of natural areas, and our need for fresh air and relaxation in nature. By registering to ride, you give your support towards these natural areas and their wildlife, have a chance to participate in a 50/50 raffle when registering, and receive a sports towel as this year’s giveaway.
$25/rider through Sunday, September 27.
There will be NO registration fee increase in September!
Note: Because this year’s event will be held virtually, there will not be an organized, in-person event held at Rock Springs Conservation Area. Along with that, there will not be SAG support or rest stops with food and water. So, choose a mileage and route that you are capable of riding. All registered riders participate at their own risk. If you decide to ride with a friend or small group, remember to practice social distancing.
We look forwarding to holding an in-person event in September 2021. In the meantime, register to ride and join us on Facebook for the Virtual Prairie Pedal 2020:
